MYŌKŌ was heavily damaged in the Sibuyan Sea on 24 October 1944 by aircraft of TG 38.2 and later dispatched to return to port in Borneo. Heavily damaged by submarine attack on 13 December 1944, she was towed to Singapore. She was scuttled by the Royal Navy in the Strait of Malacca on 8 July 1946. HAGURO was torpedoed by TU 77.4.3 DD HOEL on 25 October 1944 during the Battle Off Samar; surviving the battle. She was sunk by British destroyers on 16 May 1945 55NM WSW of Penang Island. |
